Bon Chat Bon Rat

We've just spent 20 minutes in the office trying to work out who the lead singer of Bon Chat, Bon Rat sounds like. His voice rings bells in my head like crazy...

Anyway. one thing's for sure, the vocals in 'Blackbird' are gorgeous, floating  time and time again above the swirling atmospherics below. Bon Chat, Bon Rat's new single doesn't contain much more than a single repeated vocal melody, a stuttering beat and some delayed guitar, but that's all that's need to create a gorgeous soundscape, that's all that's needed to sustain a beautiful listening experience for the length of the song... it's proof that a musical idea with substance, executed with taste is all that is needed to make great a great song.

As was evidenced by last years Bon Chat Bon Rat EP, the bands modus operandi is to envelope sweet melodies in subtle electronica and layered acoustic sounds. It's  pretty melancholy, occasionally cold and desolate, often lovely and always interesting.

Bon Chat, Bon Rat are giving away the song with three remixes (one each from Marseilles, Collarbones and Hugo Frederick) on their bandcamp page... get it, it'll cost you nothing but bandwidth
