Elizabeth Rose

A couple of weeks ago we saw US band Chairlift playing a hyped Laneway Sideshow at The East Brunswick Club. They'd just released a gorgeous album of timeless light-as-air pop and the online buzz was at an all time high for them. The clientele in room was pretty hip.
Two and a half hours later we left the venue completely abuzz but it wasn't Chairlift (good as they were) that had us excited. Elizabeth Rose had stolen the show. Alone on stage with MPC, laptop, keyboard and microphone she played one of the most self assured and beguiling sets we'd ever seen from a support act. Ethereal synths layered upon hip hop and dance beats, triggered live and sampled, mastering texture and melody and making a Melbourne's notoriously lethargic hipster crowd dance goddamit. Oh and she sings... Awesomely.
Elizabeth Rose's "Ready" (one of our favourite tracks of the year so far) is available through Inertia Accessand will be launched tonight as part of National SLAM day at Good God Small Club in Sydney. (Did we mention that you'd better be going to a SLAM Day Gig?!). Check out Elizabeth's Soundcloud page where you'll find remixes of Flight Facilities and Jinja Safari and a suitably haunting cover of Fever Ray.
We're not the first who've jumped on the Elizabeth Rose bandwagon, she's a Triple J Next Crop artist and has already played Parklife, Peats Ridge and will no-doubt be one of the hits at the upcoming Playground Weekender...
