The Panda Band

Idiosyncratic, tongue in cheek and adventurous... that's The Panda Band for you. An indie band wrapped in an enigma who've released a second album comprising exuberant pop melodies, detailed instrumentation and obtuse stories of beauty pageants, alligators, love and death.

The Panda Band are one of those bands which require a deeper look and listen than what might come across at first impression. Their latest single '51 Swimsuits' is a homage to girls with brains and a social concience, clearly  swimsuit models have nothing on Miss USA for the boys of The Panda Band... But amidst catchy choruses, the swirling vibraphones, marimbas, glockenspiels, harps, synths, myriad guitars, drums and all the rest I there's a subversive glint in their eye.

Back in 2005, Rolling Stone declared The Panda Band "The Band To Watch"... well 6 years later they're not quite the buzzband they once were but there's inventiveness and originality to spare. They're back with a vengeance the scene and Australian indie music is better for it.
